Pupil Premium funding was introduced in 2011 in response to evidence that those who are or have been eligible for Free School Meals have consistently lower attainment than those who have never been eligible for Free School Meals. Funding is also allocated to Looked After Children (LAC) and services children. Whilst schools can individually determine how this funding is spent, in accordance with each eligible child’s needs, they are held accountable for the achievement of disadvantaged pupils through Ofsted inspections and performance tables.

September 2017: Initial results indicate another year with above national average exam performance by the students we receive Pupil Premium payments for. We anticipate the Pupil Premium strategy review being completed ahead of schedule and we will publish an interim review of 2016-2017 funding while we await validated exam results.
Catch-up Literacy and Numeracy Funding
The Year 7 Catch-Up Premium is a stream of funding that a school receives in addition to core funding. The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve an standardised score of 100 ( prior to 2016/17 intake, below a Level 4) in reading and/or maths at the end of key stage 2 i.e. at the end of their Primary school.
Schools previously received an additional £500 for each pupil in their year 7 intake, who fulfils this criteria.
The SENCo on behalf of the Governing Body can decide how that funding is spend and is accountable for ensuring it has maximum impact.
